Licenses, permits, regulations and other scary things.
- Zoning- most people that run mail order or catalog buisnesses from their home; in fact, that's one of the most attractive things about this method of doing buisness. so you'll need to check:
Are you zoned for a home business? Check your local zoning ordinace through the city or county offices.
- Does your Homeowner's Association have restrictions against running a business out of your home?
In the latter case, the restriction may only be in place to prevent crowds of people, delivery trucks, etc. A mail order business, internet buisness suchas; Ebay auction, or a flea market distributor are all extremely quiet and unobtrusive, so if your're faced with a restriction you can certainly ask for an exception. Licenses- If everything is okay with zoning, you need to check into licenses. Many states require a "business" License to operate. Give a call to the city clerk's office in you area. Licenses are inexpensive and seldom over $50.00. Sales Tax- Consult your tax advisor for specifics, but generally you only pay sales tax to the state in which your business is located if your state requires sales tax.....then only on sales made to residents of that state. - You'll need a "resale" number to do business. Once you have that number, you'll be able to buy merchandise with out paying tax. You'll charge your customers when appropriate, and then remit that money to your state board of Equalization. Contact your county or State clerk's office to register and apply for a resale number. *In most cases this number will be issued free of charge.

You decide how much and when to work. No answering to a boss, your the boss! Flexible work schedules, you could work part-time to supplement your income the choice is yours. You decide which programs work for you.
