MONEY IN THE MAIL

Ever dreamed about going to your mailbox and pulling out a fistful of checks? Many wholesalers do all their business by phone, fax and mail and have never meet their customers.
That's the magic of mail order, and to be sure, it's a powerful allure.

Mail order, simply defined, is a great way to generate merchandise sales in two ways:
  1. by mailing catalogs or other sales tools such as your new arrival fliers or World of products catalogs.
  2. By advertising your products, and fulfilling orders via mail.

Mail order is exciting and fun, but it's also highly competitive, potentially expensive marketing method.

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND ABOUT MAIL ORDER

  • It's one of the most expensive and risky marketing methods to start
  • It's a numbers game; the more catalogs you send, the more chances for orders
  • We reccomend that your begin mailing solely to your exsisting customer base or those who have requested catalogs from you.

SOME GREAT THINGS ABOUT MAIL ORDER

  • You can do it part time
  • You can generate orders all day, every day
  • You don't have to do any face-to-face selling
  • You can work all day in your pajamas!
  • Your age, gender, education, and physical limitations are not factors that can stop you from succeding
  • You can take the day off whenever you want; your catalogs do the selling for you!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO MAIL ORDER

  1. Order your Spring 2003 BAYBERRY LANE catalogs, you'll need to stamp or have them custom imprinted with your company name.
  2. Create your mailing list from exsisting customer list, neighbors, friends, relatives, acqanintences, etc. You should also getthe name and address of any customer you've had- at the swap-meet, home party or showing your catalogs around town. (Optional)As your business grows you should obtain a mailing permit. You can get a postal permit from the U.S. Post office, which entitles you to mail at 3rd class standard rate. There's a $150.00 one-time fee, and it's by far the cheapest way to launch your mail order campaign. Read more in your "Big 4 Manual".
  3. Address and create mailing labels for your catalogs. Stamp and label your catalogs.
  4. Head to your local U.S. postal office and mail your catalogs.

    NOW THE FUN PART-
    HERE'S WHAT TO DO WHEN ORDER COME IN

    • open the envelope,
    • Put the payment aside,
    • verify item number, price etc.
    • check math for accuracy
    • deposit check or money order, or process their credit card order through a secured server, we reccomend Pro-Pay
    • Place your order with us for the requested merchandise. Important note about your order: you can have your orders shipped directly from us to your customer (know as "drop-shipping") our name and address will appear on the return label and invoice, we will add your company and contact information if you wish.) or you may have all the items shipped to you and then repackage the order enclose your own invoice and ship it to your customer. THIS IS YOUR BUSINESS, you choose which best suits you.

      IMPORTANT Take good care of your customers! Personal notes and an occasional phone call can keep you firmly in your customer's mind.

      KEEP GOOD RECORDS Good records can tell you a customer's buying patern, which items are your best sellers and when to run a special discount or promotion if sales start to lag, (they occasionally will, expecially just after christmas).

      NOTE: Mail order can be expensive, and response rates can be low. We reccommend that you improve your response rate by building a list of customers for other marketing methods.
